How to keep your
lawn mower in
tip-top condition
In this post, we have put together a list of our care recommendations to keep your lanwmower in tip-top condition.
Everyone knows that a lawnmower is one of the most important pieces of garden machinery you can have at your disposal for keeping your lawn
neat and tidy throughout the year. Therefore, it is essential you keep it in tip-top condition to keep it running at its optimum performance.
Lawn Mower Maintenance Tips
Keep Your Lawn Mower Clean and Sharp
It is important to keep your mower clean after each use, especially on the deck, as chopped grass can stick to the underside of your machine and can sometimes even find its way inside the engine. We also recommend you sharpen your mower blades at least once a year, as a dull blade can drastically affect the efficiency of your garden machinery and could potentially contribute to the grass becoming diseased.
Regularly Change the Fuel and Oil
Don’t skip this step! Change your oil at least once a year, this prevents the motor from being harmed from using dirty oil. This is a similar case for your fuel., If left the petrol can spoil and damage the engine. Our recommendation is, if you plan to not use your mower for a long period of time, simply drain the fuel and oil and recycle it for your next use.
Replace Air Filter
An air filter has the job of keeping dust and other particles out of the engine as it draws air in, if the filter isn’t regularly replaced you run the risk of clogging or completely blocking air entry into your lawnmower engine. Don’t worry, replacing your air filter is a simple task, we include this in our service package.
Check the Spark Plug
To keep your spark plugs lasting longer, you might want to clean the dust and rust buildup around them. Changing the spark plug again is still a simple task, but you will know when a change is required, as more pulls of the cord will be required to ignite the fuel within your engine.
Get Your Lawn Mower Serviced Regularly
In summary, if you keep your lawnmower in tip-top condition you will drastically increase its lifespan for many years to come. We always recommend booking regular services with one of our mechanics to ensure your garden machinery is always in good working order.
